Eleanor Ball Sikes

Mrs. Eleanor Ball Sikes, 92, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15th after several months of declining health. Born in Burlington, NC, Eleanor’s greatest love was her family, which included caring staff whom she quickly incorporated into her heart and her best friends at Fiesta Mexicana in Cary. She also had a decades-long devotion to Tar Heel basketball and WCPE radio, a love of surfing the internet and was admired by family and caretakers for maintaining her sense of humor no matter the circumstances.

She is survived by her children, Tim Sikes of Greenville, NC; Keith Sikes and wife Kathy of Scranton, SC; Julie Leonard and husband Byron of Burlington, NC; Patricia Sikes and husband Paul Joffrion of Durham, NC. Grandchildren: Wes Adams, Michael Sikes, Tommy Sikes, Courtney Adams, Tiffany Stroud, Stephanie Estes, Julianna Adams, Heather Adams, Maddie Adams, Aubri Adams, Lulea Adams, Sarah Leonard; eighteen great-grandchildren and sister, Dorothy Snotherly of Burlington, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Sikes; daughter, Cindy Adams; parents William and Kathryn Ball; brother, David Ball and sisters Marjorie Blue, Harriet Hegemann and Sarah Greene.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, Dec. 3rd in the Rich & Thompson Chapel on Glenwood Ave. in Burlington, NC.  Family will be available to visit with friends after the service.
