Earl Waymon Smith

Earl Waymon Smith, 88, of Graham passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.

A native of Sampson County, he was the husband of the late Nellie Herring Smith and the husband of 20 years to Juanita Smith, who survives and the son of Joseph Smith and Martha Cannady Smith, both deceased. He retired from Western Electric/Lucent Technologies with a total of 33 years of service. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Clinton, NC.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include three daughters, Linda Wilson and husband Steve of Elon, Diane Walters and husband Tom of Graham and Pattie Edwards of Wilmington; son, Gregory Waymon Smith and wife Wendy of Haw River; step-son, David Sorrell of Oxford; ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Mansfield; and loving cat, Geddy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Beaddie Mitchell and husband James and Katherine Smith Audry and husband Jack.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. Other times they will be at Greg’s residence, 2002 Tresfield Court, Haw River, NC.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Dr. Dace A. Lewis, Jr. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
