Douglas Leroy Mabe

Douglas Leroy Mabe, 75, of Mebane passed away suddenly in Woodstock, VA.

A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Deborah Ray Mabe, who survives and the son of James Roy Mabe and Doris Lohr Mabe Wood, both deceased. Douglas was a veteran of the United States Navy. Prior to starting Doug’s Flag Car Service, he drove tractor trailers on and off for 50 years. His passion was hauling super loads. Douglas loved antique cars and loved taking his granddaughter, Opal, to the car shows with him. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include a daughter, Amy Mabe of Efland; granddaughter, Opal Apple; sister, Shirley Blount of Virginia Beach; brother, James Wood of Gloucester, VA; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Skeeter Wood.

The funeral service will be conducted at Antioch Baptist Church in Chapel Hill on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Other times, the family will be at the residence.
