Dorothy "Dottie" Ramsey Hinshaw

Burlington – Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” Ramsey Hinshaw, 94, of Burlington, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Wade Coble Healthcare of Twin Lakes Center following a month of declining health.

A native of Little Rock, AR, she was wife of the late John Frank Hinshaw and daughter of the late Frank Ramsey and Margarete Heenan Ramsey. She was the last of eight children. Mrs. Hinshaw retired as Director of Senior Service with the City of Burlington. She was a charter member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church, a member of the Burlington Women’s Club, Lady Elks, and the Carousel Restoration Project.

Dottie was a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are her three children, J. W. “Skip” Hinshaw and wife Mary Alice of Wilmington, Sharon H. Copland of Wilmington and Amy H. McKay and husband Doug of Graham; four grandchildren, Paige Copland Moody, Taylor Hinshaw, Meredith Hinshaw-Chaney and Samantha McKay Hartung; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 7, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington with visitation following the service. The burial will be private. Other times the family will be at the home of Amy McKay, 526 Oakwood Lane, Graham.
