Dorothy Ashby

Mrs. Dorothy Ashby, 83, of Elon passed away at the Hospice Home on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 4:40 p.m.

Dorothy was born in Rockingham County and raised in Caswell County. She was the wife of the late Howard Warren Ashby and the daughter of William King and Addie Lou Duggins King, both deceased. She retired from Culp Inc.

Survivors include three children, Dot Brown (Tommy) of Elon, Major Ashby (Tracy) and Keith Ashby, all of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Oakes and Linda Tucker. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Ashby and Alice Mansfield; nine brothers; one sister; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Dot Brown, 4433 Reid Road, Elon, NC.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Tommy Bright. Burial will follow in Kerr’s Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
