On Saturday April 3, 2021, Doris Pore Searcy passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She was called home by her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved, Raymond Searcy.
The daughter to the late Gilbert and Estelle Pore born on August 23, 1939, the oldest of nine siblings. Doris met Raymond, the love of her life, at age 19 when they moved in next door to each other. After a short courting, they married on July 4, 1959. They were married for almost 55 years before his death in May 2014. They went on to have two daughters. She was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters Anita Slaughter (Todd) and Chandra Durham (Chris); grandchildren Jessica Elkins (Brandon), Haley Workman (Stephen), Nissa Durham (f. Chris Tyree), Karli Durham, and Zach Durham (f. Jessie Nash); great grandchildren Victoria and Jaxon Elkins, Channing and River Workman, Oakley and Rylee Tyree; siblings, Larry Pore (Hilda), Butch Pore (Betty), Mickey Pore (Lynda), Donna Newcomer (Palmer), Wanda Lloyd, sister-in-law Nina Moore (E.G.); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her long time close friend Phyllis Grigg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Jerry Pore, Phillip Pore, and sister Susan Healey.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2020 at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 pm in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham.
