Mrs Doris Marie Willoughby Roney

Mrs. Doris Marie Willoughby Roney, formerly of Gibsonville, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019, at Liberty Commons in Burlington.

A native of Alamance County, she was wife of the late Ned A. Roney, Sr. and daughter of the late James Willoughby and Lillie Sykes Willoughby Pitts (O.B.). Mrs. Roney was a homemaker and a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Allen Roney (Cindy Foust) of Burlington, and Tommy Roney (Flora) of Buford, SC; two daughters, Sheryl Carns (Tom) of Loveland, OH and Patti Roney Prince (Billy, Jr.) of Mebane; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Jeffrey, Jason, Jenna, Christy, Lisa, Scott, Jeremy, and Levi; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Pitts (Anne); three sisters, Nellie Pitts Braxton, Mary Frances Pitts Blaylock (Frankie) and Sue Pitts Goodson; and a special niece, Gayle Stanley (Mike).

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, December 5, at Shallow Ford Christian Church with Rev. Steve Regan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, prior to the service.
