Mrs. Doris King Massey, 93, of Burlington passed away at Ashton Place on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Elmer E. Massey and the daughter of Odell Hall King and Annie Harrelson King, both deceased. She was a former secretary for the Tax Administrator for Alamance County. Doris was a former member of Long’s Chapel United Church of Christ and a present member of the First Christian United Church of Christ.  She was a faithful member holding various positions with each church and had a life membership with the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the DAR Chapter of the Battle of Alamance.

Survivors include a daughter, Lydia Massey Jernigan and husband Chris of McLeansville; son, Garry Hall Massey and wife Sherry of Burlington; four grandchildren, Kristi Amber Massey-Lawless (Jesse) of Burlington, Jonathan “Bryce” Massey (Autumn Smith) of Pittsboro, Aaron Christopher Jernigan (Tan) of Miami, FL and Mark Garrett Jernigan of Greensboro; and five great grandchildren, Anniston Massey, Catie Massey, Madi Massey, Paul Smith and Winter Aldrich.

Due to public health concerns, the family has decided to honor their mother privately. Others may view livestream at www.richandthompson.com on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
