Doris Burgess Chamblee, 73, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Durham County, Mrs. Chamblee was the wife of Fred C. Chamblee and the daughter of the late Lonnie Burgess, Sr. and the late Thelma Wills Hicks.
Mrs. Chamblee worked for many years with her husband, Fred, at Senter Drug
in Carrboro before opening a home daycare in Hillsborough.
Mrs. Chamblee is a member of Burlington Assembly of God where she is a member of the Adult Sunday School class.
In addition to her husband, Fred, of the home, Mrs. Chamblee is survived by her daughter, Lisa Howard Andrews, of Pittsboro; her son, William L. Howard, Jr., of Pittsboro; her grandson, Thomas Wayne Andrews, of Pittsboro, great-grandson, Jesse Maddox Andrews, a sister, Margie Burgess Lawrence, of King, NC; a brother, Pete Burgess (Teresa), of Blacksburg, SC; two special sisters-in-law, Dail White (Jim) and Gail Parker (Pat) and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Chamblee was preceded in death by three siblings; Lib Green, Dickie Burgess and Steve Hicks.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 11, Mrs. Chamblee’s birthday, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Burlington Assembly of God.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Bryan Rainbow.
