Donald Lucas Morrison Sr.

Donald “Don” Lucas Morrison, Sr., age 72 of Burlington, NC, passed away on October 10, 2017 following a brief illness.

Born in Greensboro, NC, he was the son of the late William Ogburn and Marguerite Odom Morrison. He was a graduate of Williams High School. While in high school and college, he worked at Coleman’s Men’s Store. After graduating from Elon University, he served four years in the U.S. Army including a tour with the 82nd Airborne Division and served in Vietnam attaining the rank of Captain. Don was employed for many years by May Apparel and later with Allstate Insurance owning his own agency. Don was a life-long supporter of Elon athletics, a member of the Elon University Board of Visitors, an avid golfer, a lover of the Baltimore Orioles and an enthusiastic traveler. He was someone who had a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara Ippolito Morrison of the home; two sons: Donald L. Morrison Jr. (Amy Brazil), Baltimore, MD and Michael Brooks Morrison, Burlington, NC; granddaughter: Lucinda Brazil Morrison; and brother: William Morrison Jr., Hartsville, SC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, 306 Glenwood Ave, Burlington, NC 27215.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1620 Hanford Road, Graham, NC 27253.
