Donald E. Johnson, 86, of Burlington, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Guilford County, Mr. Johnson was the husband of Dorothy Combs Johnson and the son of the late Robert Leman Johnson and the late Bessie Evans Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Irene Johnson; his wife, Hural Jean Foster Johnson; his brother, Robert Leman Johnson, Jr; his sister, Ruth Fogelman; his sister, Peggy Hill; his brother, Harold Johnson; his sister, Janice Porter and his son, Eddie Campbell.
Mr. Johnson was a manager at Glen Raven Mills before his retirement. He was a member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Donald W. Johnson (wife Cecilia Johnson); his daughter, Cynthia G. Johnson (fiancé Lee Haymond); his son, William Campbell (wife Mitzi Campbell); his son Shaune Campbell (wife Christina Campbell); his sister, Mary Vernita Garner and his sister, Patricia Darlene Johnson.
He was a man who always helped others and asked for nothing in return. A passionate fan of the Duke Blue Devils, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR, he was also the Fast Pitch Softball Batting Champion in 1953. He was a member of the Dance team in high school and loved Bluegrass, Country & Gospel music. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, strong work ethic, generosity and amazing sense of humor.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 8th, 2021 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Burial will be at Alamance Memorial Park.
