Kay Sumner Laughlin of Burlington, died Sunday, December 2, 2018 at her residence in Sanford, North Carolina.
A native of Alamance County, Kay was the daughter of the late Herbert Gordon Sumner and the late Elizabeth Taylor Sumner.
Mrs. Laughlin was a retired Nurse having worked at Memorial Hospital and Alamance Regional Medical Center and a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Lynn (Rebecca) of Burlington, Mike Lynn (Laura) of Liberty; one daughter, Holly Lynn; nine grandchildren, Christopher Lynn, Ashley Newsome, Brianna Lynn, Anna Lisa Lynn, Bailey Knight, Truitt Lynn, Paul Lynn, Sean Lynn and Will Lynn; five great-grandchildren, Ella Newsome, Olivia Lynn, Avery Lynn, Mackenzie Lynn and Weston Wilson; brother, Gordon Sumner and two sisters, Mary Cook and Brenda Allred.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 5, at 2:00 pm in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Graham, NC. Officiating will be the Rev. Benny Smith. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 12:45 until 1:45 pm. At other times they will be at the residence of her sister Brenda Allred, 710 Rolling Rd., Haw River, NC 27258.
