Delano Anderson “D.A.” Moran, 86, of Burlington, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Pearl Conklin Moran and the son of the late Devoe Esque Moran and the late Bettie Payne Moran.
D.A. was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired employee of AT&T (formerly BellSouth Telecommunications) and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He had a green thumb and loved teaching his daughters and grandkids how to plant and grow beautiful flowers. He enjoyed swapping tales with his buddy’s at Biscuitville, Reel Outdoor tackle shop in Emerald Isle and the Emerald Isle Pier.
He is survived by three daughters, Amanda Christian and her husband, Wayne, of Murrells Inlet, Terry Hanford and her husband, Randy, of Emerald Isle, Cindy Johnson and her husband Rick, of Whitsett; four grandchildren, Chase Hanford, Tate Hanford, Amber Murphy and Brittney Moody; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Alyse Moran Norris and Vernell Moran Rascoe.
A private, family only funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Prentis Harris III. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
