David Gerald Talbert

David Gerald Talbert passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 77. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends, who were always entertained by his stories and matter-of-fact sense of humor. He truly brought life to any gathering he attended. He was a voice of reason, a mentor to many, a loyal friend, and one-of-a-kind.

Gerald was born on February 20, 1945 to the late William Allen Talbert and Grace McKinney Talbert, who were members of Concord Church. He was the late Talberts’ 10th child, and often joked that “Mama and Daddy quit with the 10th because they had finally made the perfect child.”

Gerald was a savvy businessman. He worked at Long Meadow for 9 years and was Co-0wner, along with this brothers, Silas of multiple Talbert, Inc. convenience stores and Talbert’s Auto & Body Shop for many years. He was also Co-Owner of Jake’s Transmission. He was involved with many charities over his lifetime. He was a member of the Efland Ruritan Club for many years and was also a Charter Member of the Historic Speedway Group.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father, William Allen Talbert; his mother, Grace McKinney Talbert; and his siblings, Herman Talbert, Addie King, Bruce Talbert, William (Bill) Theodore Talbert, Doris Wright, and Hazel Ellington. He is survived by his son, Shannon Talbert; siblings, Charles Talbert of Mebane, Silas Talbert of Graham, Larry Talbert of Cape Carteret; and 3 grandchildren, Megan Talbert, Kendall Hamm and Courtney Talbert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love him dearly.

He touched the lives of so many people who were lucky enough to know him, across multiple generations. He really is that pebble thrown into a lake as the lives he touched act as ripples that extend far beyond just us.

The service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church, (Eli Whitney), Graham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4462 East Greensboro-Chapel Hill Rd, Graham, NC 27253.
