David Larry Sparks

Mr. David “Larry” Sparks, 73, of Burlington passed away at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 12:45 a.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Irene Wilson Sparks, who survives and the son of Lawrence David Sparks and Lillie Mae Cates Sparks, both deceased. Mr. Sparks was a pressman for 42 years. He enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes. Mr. Sparks received his teaching degree at Piedmont Bible Institute. Larry was involved with the jail ministry in Graham, NC for 13 ½ years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Larry taught Sunday school for over 30 years at several different churches. He was also Sunday school superintendent, a deacon and an usher.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Ashley Moeller (Lauren); three step-children; several grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Smith (Rev. Buddy Smith) and Joyce Manuel (Mike); a brother, Alvin Sparks (Darlene); and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Hobgood.

The funeral service will be conducted at Bethel Baptist Church on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor David Jackson and Pastor Scott London with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
