Mr David Vernon Lassiter Sr

Mr. David Vernon Lassiter, Sr., 79, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at his home after several months of declining health.

A native of Burlington, NC, he was the husband of Janet Isley Lassiter, Married for 57 years. He was the son of Alfred David Lassiter, Jr. and Margaret Lindley Lassiter, both deceased. He was a graduate of Elon High School and attended Elon College. He retired from IBM after 25 years of service and started Above Average Cleaning business that he ran for 16 years. David loved airplanes, boats, old cars and classic western movies. David loved people and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He never met a stranger. He loved hearing about all the things his grandchildren were involved in and was a proud Papaw. David’s life changed 14 years ago when diagnosed with cancer and he has been a fighter and inspiration to all. He lived each day to its fullest with a positive and uplifting outlook on life.

He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship and service as part of the United Methodist Men’s group.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, David Lassiter, Jr. (Stephanie) of Liberty, NC; daughter, Tina Isley (Nick) of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Ashton Isley, Gage Isley, and Dawson Lassiter; sister, Linda Mann (Craig Yarborough) of Burlington, NC; several nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the wonderful doctors and caregivers who have provided loving and compassionate care to David over the years: Jessica Clanton, Michelle Tate, Ashley White, Holt Walker, Sherri Miles, Sonja King, Dr. Gustav C. Magrinat, Dr. Daniel George and the wonderful team from Hospice.

Services will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, Burlington, NC at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, with Rev. Thurman Horney officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall from 12 noon till 1:45 PM, prior to the service. The family will be at the home at other times.
