Davey Douglas Sawyer

Mr. Davey Douglas Sawyer, 61, of Graham passed away at the Laurels of Chatham on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, after a five-year battle with frontal-lobe-temporal dementia.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Ray Douglas Sawyer and Patricia Coggins Sawyer, both deceased.  Davey was a 1975 graduate of Southern High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball.  He graduated in 1979 from East Carolina University.  Davey loved sports and was an avid Carolina Fan.  He was a retired life insurance agent. 

Survivors include his sister, Sherrie Sawyer-Allred and her husband, Chip of Burlington; brother, James Christopher Sawyer and his wife, Amy of Carolina Beach; aunt, Brenda Sawyer of Burlington; niece, Niki Montgomery; nephew, Robert McKinney; great niece, Sloan McKinney; and two great nephews, Cole Montgomery and Maverick McKinney.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Rusted Bucket Tavern, 132 e. Davis St., Burlington, NC 27215, on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. where the music will be performed by Gray Matter.  There will be a time to share photos and fond memories of Davey.
