Curry Edward Bryan III, 68, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 8, 2019 following several years of declining health.
A native of Burlington, he was the husband of Ren Hewitt Bryan, who survives, and the son of Curry Edward Bryan, Jr. and Irma Wrightenberry Bryan, both deceased. He was a graduate of N. C. State University and was employed in sales, beginning as a teenager in the family business, Burlington Sporting Goods. Curry was a lifelong athlete, playing football, sailing, and running every day of his adult life until sidelined by his health.
Curry’s greatest joy and source of pride was his family. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Curry Edward Bryan, IV, wife Allison and their children, Eddie, Mary Elizabeth, and Danny; daughters, Margaret Bryan Wagner, husband Will, Nellie Bryan Angyal, husband Jeff and their children, Lilly, Gaines, and Harris and Alice Bryan Rivenbark, husband Matt, and their children, Jack and Nell; brother William Bryan, and sister Hope Bryan Teague along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Bryan Metts and Leigh Bryan Counts and a grandson, Calvin Bryan Rivenbark.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Following the service the family will receive friends at the Angyal home.
