Mrs Clara Lee Conner

Mrs. Clara Morris Conner, 94, of Burlington died at her residence on Monday, July 31, 2017.

A native of Montgomery County, NC, she was the wife of the late Elgia E. Conner and the daughter of George W. Morris and Hattie Harris Morris, both deceased. Mrs. Conner was employed with Southern Bell and Western Electric, and retired from Lucent Technology after 25 years of service. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Cactus Squares. She made every single square dance dress that she wore. She was also an avid quilt maker.

Survivors include a son, Keith Conner of Burlington; three grandchildren, Chuck Loy and wife Karen of Burlington, Caressa Thaxton and husband David of Graham and Mandi Smighelschi and husband Cristian of Snow Camp; four great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda C. Loy and ten brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be conducted at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 12:00 noon by Dr. James L. Bryan with the family receiving friends from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Other times, the family will be at the home of the grandson, Chuck Loy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
