Charles Worth Isley

June 30, 1927 ~ August 12, 2020 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Obituary

Charles “Worth” Isley, of Snow Camp, at 93 years of age, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2020 after a brief stay at the AuthoraCare Hospice Center in Burlington.

Worth was born, at home, in Alamance County on June 29, 1927, as recorded in his mother’s family bible. However, his official date of birth was recorded as June 30, 1927. He enjoyed celebrating both days as his birthdays. He was the son of the late John Moody Isley and Caroline Garrett Isley.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Hilda Love Isley and his son, Charles Daniel Isley. He is survived by his son, Samuel and daughter-in-law, Kathy of Snow Camp; grandchildren, Lee and wife Erin of Belmont, NC and Julie and husband Jason O‘Keefe of Boone, NC. Also, he is survived by his grandson, Daniel Jason and his wife Mindy of Liberty. Worth was blessed to have great grandchildren, Ethan, Emerson and Elliot Isley of Belmont, Jonah O’Keefe of Boone, Hunter and Bailey Isley and Jacob Lawrence.

He served in the Merchant Marines as a Seaman and upon returning to Burlington, spent over 40 years in the hosiery business, retiring from Ametek Lamb Electric.

He was a faithful lifetime member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Worth was an avid outdoorsman and farmer. He was often found sitting on his swing under the trees with his dog Winston. He loved being on his tractors and working in his garden.

He was truly blessed with a long healthy life but was faced with the battle of pancreatic cancer approximately eight months ago. He talked often of his wife Hilda and was deeply saddened the last two years by the loss of his son Danny and the lack of support from Danny’s remaining family.

It was a blessing for his son, Samuel and oldest grandson, Jason to be with Worth in his last moments on this earth. His last days were also spent with his daughter-in-law, Kathy; grandson, Lee; granddaughter, Julie; as well as Mindy and Jacob.

A graveside service will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., led by his Pastor, Thurman Horney.
