Carson Ray Hudson

Carson Ray Hudson, 87, of Burlington, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his home.

A native of Alamance County, Mr. Hudson was the husband of the late Louise “Jonnie” Huffman Hudson and the son of the late Allen Carson Hudson and the late Myrtle Sharpe Hudson.

Mr. Hudson is a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked for Associated Transport for 22 years as a long distance truck driver. He also worked with the Burlington Fire Department, Sunoco Gas Company in Charlotte, Merico Incorporated for six years, and drove for Burlington Industries for ten years.

Mr. Hudson was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and frequently attended Glen Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Burlington YMCA, and The Edge Gym where he spent many hours working out and socializing with his friends. Through the years, his hobbies were boating, skiing, golfing, fishing and hunting. Above all, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Hudson is survived by two daughters; Rhonda Leonard Ring and her husband, James, of Wilmington, Lisa Hudson Thigpen and her husband, Ned, of Burlington; four grandchildren, Amanda Ring McNeely (Patrick) and Jennifer Ring Lopatka, all of Wilmington, Hannah Rebekah Thigpen of Albuquerque and Daniel Isaac Thigpen of Burlington; four great-grandchildren, Ava Caroline McNeely, Graham Kilpatrick McNeely, Easton James Lopatka and Griffin Russell Lopatka; and two sisters, Connie Hudson Butler and Sheri Hudson Joyner, both of Elon.

In addition to his wife, Jonnie, and his parents, Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Ted Hudson.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Macedonia Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Goeres. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
