Obituary
Carolyn Smith Lane, 76, of Burlington, passed away at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Norman Wallace Lane and the daughter of the late Charlie Jackson Smith and the late Lena Grace Hamlet Smith. Carolyn was the co-owner and operator of the Handy Corner Convenience Store.
She is survived by two sons, Charlie “Willie” Lane and his wife Teresa and Michael Lane and his fiancé Rachelle; five grandchildren, Ashley Shanlever and her husband Charles, Brittney Lane, Brooke Bradsher and her husband Clark, Seth Lane and Mikaley Lane; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charlie Smith and his wife Brenda and Wayne Smith.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rosa Marie Smith Ingelhelm.
Her memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Pegg officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
