Bobby Cortez Johnson

Bobby Cortez Johnson, 85, of Gibsonville, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A native of Guilford County, Mr. Johnson was the husband of the late Dalphine Webster Johnson and the son of the late George Melvin Johnson and the late Nita Gillespie Ledbetter.

Mr. Johnson owned and operated Johnson Floor Covering. He was a member of the North Carolina National Guard and was an avid deer hunter.

He was a member of True Light Baptist Church in Gibsonville.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Susan Johnson Dixon and her husband, Harold, of Gibsonville; a son, Kim Johnson of Gibsonville; two grandchildren, Lauren Dwyer and her husband, Billy, and Tracy Dixon; two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Harper Dwyer; and Wayne Webb, who was like a son to him.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Johnson and his stepfather, Joe Ledbetter.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 19, at 2:00 PM at True Light Baptist Church, 500 Second Street, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Officiating will be Pastor Tommy Marley. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the service. Other times the family will be at the residence of a granddaughter, Lauren Dwyer.
