Billie Joyce Johnson Whitaker

Billie Joyce Johnson Whitaker died Saturday, February 16, 2019.

She was the only daughter of Richard Branson Johnson and Hilda Avis Johnson, both deceased.

She resided at 240 Albany Street in Burlington.

She is survived by her brothers, Ronald “Sonny” Johnson, of the home and Donald Ray Johnson, and wife, Crystal of Mebane. 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lee Johnson and her nephew Roderic  Johnson.

Also surviving are a nephew, Brandon Johnson of Cullman, Alabama; a great-niece, Savannah Johnson and her mother, Beth Johnson, of Hixson, Tennessee.

Billie was a retired employee of Bell South.

Billie was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church of Burlington and a member of the Mildred Overman Sunday School Class.

Billie volunteered with the Hospice Flea Market for several years. She was a member of the Pioneers of America.

Billie loved to work outside in her garden and was an avid book reader.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, Feb. 18, from 6:00 until 8:00 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Graham.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 am in Alamance Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Bob Stephenson.
