Mr. Bill Lee Ballinger, 89, a resident of Winston Salem Nursing and Rehabilitation, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at 3:55 p.m.
A native of Edgefield, SC, he was the husband of the late Shirley Ann Daniels Ballinger and the son of Art Ballinger and Essie Felmet Ballinger, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and a longtime member of the VFW serving as past commander of his local post. Mr. Ballinger was a machinist at Western Electric where he later retired.
Survivors include two sons, Robin M. Ballinger and wife Sheryl of Clemmons and Gary A. Thaxton and wife Karen of Saxapahaw; three daughters, Vicky T. Chandler and husband Roddy of Winston-Salem, Karen T. Pleasant and husband Carlton of Burlington and Kim T. Byrd of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David Michael Thaxton and brother, Tom Ballinger.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Don Pegg with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
