Betty Ann Groves Melcher

Betty Ann Groves Melcher, age 85, was encircled in the love of family and friends as she passed away in Burlington, NC on Saturday, June 26, 2021. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Betty embraced the life of a Marine Corps wife at the age of 21 after meeting the love of her life, Paul F.Melcher.

Some of the family’s fondest memories center on Betty’s love of laughter,birds, movies (those without foul language or nudity), music, food (especially popcorn), writing poems, bingo, flowers and all things beach. Most of all she loved family, friends and God.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Paul in August 2017. She is survived by her daughter Melody Podraza (Ken); sons Paul F. II (Sherry);  Gregory; Shawn (Wendy) and daughter Angela Hailey (John). Her grandchildren include; Adam Podraza (Sarah); Amy Podraza; Arielle, Alexandra and Samuel Melcher; Jacob Melcher; Leah Melcher; Cayleb Hailey; Tyler Cretelle; and Ayden Hailey; and great grandchildren Zachary and Riley Podraza.

The family would also like to extend great thanks to the Homeplace of Burlington for the love and care they showed to Betty the last few years of her life, making her part of their family.

A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Graham, NC on Saturday, August 14th with a 1p.m. visitation, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC on October 26, 2021.
