Betty Wood Lucas

     Betty Wood Lucas, 93 of Burlington, NC passed away after a brief illness on 2/18/21.

    She grew up in High Point NC and moved to Burlington as a young adult. Betty retired from a long career working in the Burlington hosiery industry and was very proud to have been an organizer of a textile Co-op initiative to extend the life of the industry in her community.  She was a loving mother and friend and though her house was small, many were welcomed to call it home over the years.

     In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by all 9 of her siblings and her husband, Donald Lucas.  She is survived by her children; Daughter, Belinda Williamson who was her best friend and “shopping buddy”.  Daughter and Son in Law, Bonnie, her adoring confidant and prayer partner & Mike Angel whose opinion she sought out on current issues, such as  “What’s best for America?”; her son (and Sunshine), Barry Lucas, her companion and whom she was convinced,  could do anything.

     Additionally Betty is survived by Grandchildren to whom she was lovingly called  “Gi Gi,”; Barry Jr., Brandon, Bridget and Michael along with precious Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

     Due to the pandemic there will not be a memorial service at this time.  The  family will plan a gathering at a later date.
