Betty Blanton Gross

Mrs. Betty Blanton Gross, 93, formerly of Burlington passed away at her daughter’s residence on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:47 p.m.

A native of Charlotte, NC, she was the wife of the late Harold Holt Gross and the daughter of Lawrence E. Blanton, Sr. and Marian Dickinson Blanton, both deceased. Mrs. Gross came to Burlington to work at Fairchild Aircraft during World War II. She volunteered with the Good Shepherd Kitchen and ARC of Alamance County and was a parent of a Celebration Singer. She devoted her life to raising her children. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Jean Gross and Rebecca Holt Gross, both of Graham; two sons, Harold Blanton Gross of Boydton, VA and Steven Teague Gross and wife, Rosemary Swade of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Claudia Pendergraph Dix and husband Ronald and their children, Gabriel Pendergraph, Lindsey Dix and Brody Dix; grandson, Harry Gross; brother, Joseph “Joe” Blanton and wife Martha; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Rob Harrison with the family receiving friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
