Betty Colene Moore Fitts

Betty Colene Moore Fitts, 79, formerly of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 8:15 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Robert C. Fitts and the daughter of Thomas Clarence Moore and Stella Zimmerman Moore Satterfield, both deceased. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. She was a former employee at Western Electric and Burlington Industries.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Robert Fitts and wife Nora of Frederick, MD and Mark Thomas Fitts and wife Sonya of Burlington; four grandchildren, Andrea Lanier André and husband David, Amelia Rae Fitts and significant other Joe Austin, Sydney Morgan Fitts and Nathanael David Fitts; great granddaughter, Kit André; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Jo Ellen Moore Thomas.

While her two sons were growing up, she spent countless hours working the concession stands at ballgames or cheering on her son’s teams to victory. She was a big supporter of Western Alamance Athletics, but especially loved Warrior Football. She listened to the games on the radio when she was able to tune in but always looked forward to reading the Saturday morning paper about another Warrior win!

For the last 8 years, Colene has resided at Ashton Place Health and Rehab. She spent her time giving hugs to everyone she met and telling them that “God loves you and I do to!”. She shared her faith in Christ with everyone and was not shy about it. She was a master at Bingo and even won some of the games before the other players fell asleep. She was proud to be a member of the Moore family and kept in contact with as many of her cousins as she could. She also kept in close contact with everyone from her church. Her mind was sharp as a tack and she remembered everything.

She loved her grandchildren and great granddaughter very much and loved to tell everyone about them.

The family would like to thank everyone for their cards and visits with Mom throughout the last several years. It is greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank the numerous caregivers at Ashton Place for their years of kindness to Mom as well as the staff at ARMC for helping Mom in her final hours.

The funeral service will be conducted at Bethlehem Christian Church on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. by Pastor Todd Felkel with the family receiving friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery.
