Bessie Fogleman Miller Wagoner

Bessie Fogleman Miller Wagoner, 98, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at her home.

A native of Alamance County, Bessie was the wife of the late Broughton Miller and the late Robert “Bob” Page Wagoner. She was the daughter of the late George Collins Fogleman and the late Abbie O’Brian Fogleman.

Bessie was a Secretary-Bookkeeper for Kayser-Roth though out her working career. Bessie received an outstanding service award from Kayser-Roth for her dedication from 1946 to 1984.

She was a member of the former Fountain Place Methodist Church and was a charter member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she was extremely active. She was a lifelong member of the church choirs, a member of the Women’s Circle, the United Methodist Women, a member of the Administrative Council and a member of the Workers Sunday School class. In 2004, Bessie and Bob were awarded the Heritage Award from St. Paul’s for their service and commitment to the church throughout the years.

Bessie is survived by her son, Dennis Miller, and his wife, Gayle, of Burlington; three grandchildren, Cindy Long and her husband, Don, Anthony Miller, Robin Jones and her husband, Danny; four great-grandchildren, Ashton Smith, Jordan Long, Preston Miller and Krista Otero; a great grandchild, Shandi Otero; many beloved nieces and nephews, among them Pam Horton and Ronald Fogleman, who have been very special to Bessie and Dennis.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Bessie was preceded in death by twelve sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 14, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.

The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Prentis Harris III. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
