Benjamin Franklin Thornton (Muggs)

Benjamin Franklin Thornton (Muggs), 83, of Hawfields, NC, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Thornton, Sr. and the late Ruth Stout Thornton and the husband of 33 years to Pamela Westbrook Thornton. He owned and operated Thornton Heating & Air since 1978 when he started the business. He loved Jesus, the North Carolina Tarheels, Carolina Beach and his family.

Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Tracey Thornton Shrewsbury and her husband Phil; sons, Franklin Todd Thornton and Timothy Mark Thornton and his wife Suzette; stepson, Marshall Todd King and his wife Kimberly; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In light of the recent restrictions due to the Coronavirus, the family will be holding a private graveside service at Hawfields Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
