B. L. “Bug” Laughon

Mr. B. L. “Bug” Laughon, 98, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 7:40 a.m.

A native of Halifax County, VA, he was the husband of the late Mildred Willis Laughon and the son of Ollie Cecil Laughon and Christine Mattox Laughon, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre. Mr. Laughon was a graduate of Gupton Jones Mortuary School in Nashville, TN and retired as President of McClure Funeral Service with over 51 years of service in Alamance County. He was Past Master and member of the Bula Masonic Lodge #409 A.F. & A.M. and Past President of the Burlington Lions Club. B. L. was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane L. Gallimore of Greensboro; three sisters, Frances L. Needham of Greensboro, Jean. L. Marshall of Atlanta, GA and Mae Laughon of Naruna, VA; brother, C. P. Laughon of Naruna, VA; and a special niece, Donna Pyrtle and husband Wayne of Burlington.  He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

In light of the recent mandate due to the Coronavirus, a private graveside service will be conducted for the family.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the V. A. Home Care team of Durham for the care and compassion they have given throughout this time.
