Auman Baxter Hunter

Mr. Auman Baxter Hunter, 88, of Graham passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at 4:07 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 69 years to Laura Sykes Hunter, who survives and the son of Clarence W. Hunter and Ola Cheek Hunter, both deceased. Mr. Hunter was a member for over 69 years at Graham Friends Church where he served as past Chairman of the Ministry Council, former Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, and Song Leader of the choir. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, an avid golfer, and huge Atlanta Braves and UNC Tar Heels fan.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include two sons, Gary Auman Hunter and wife Cecile of Burlington and James Myron Hunter and wife Angie of Burlington; two daughters, Deborah Ann Moore and husband Brian of Graham and Melinda Sue Hunter of Kill Devil Hills; brother, Larry C. Hunter of Graham; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Kaul; sisters, Jacqueline Farmer, Meck Councilman and Jean Worley; and a brother, Bill Hunter.

The funeral service will be conducted at Graham Friends Church on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Tom Barton with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
