Aubrey Wilson Shepherd Sr.

Aubrey W. Shepherd, Sr. of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the age of 83. 

Aubrey was born to Herbert and Louise Shepherd on April 18, 1940, in Gibsonville, North Carolina.  Aubrey was retired from the banking industry. He was a gifted gardener who passed along his love of plants to his daughter-in-law. He loved watching sports and was an avid golfer. He joined a senior bowling league and bowled an impressive 212 at the age of 82. Regrettably, his golf game was not quite as up to par.  If you ever saw Aubrey’s golf swing, you couldn't "un-see" it.  The countless father/son golf matches with Wilson versus Carolyn and her dad were some of his very favorite times.
 
Aubrey is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wilson and Carolyn Shepherd of Forest, Virginia, and his grandchildren, Carson Shepherd of Arlington, Virginia and Sam Shepherd of Forest, Virginia. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Betty Lou Shepherd, Carol Younger, Jo Uckele, and Dawn Weisner, brother-in-law Chuck Uckele, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Aubrey was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Judy Shepherd, brother Clyde Shepherd, sister Marion Worley, brothers-in-law Richard Younger and Chuck Weisner, nephew Matt Younger, and his in-laws, Charles and Edna Weisner.

Visitation will be held at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington on Friday, November 17 at 12:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
