Arnold Charles Wilmoth, 87, of Antioch Church Road, Burlington, NC, died Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Washburn, Tennessee on February 14, 1932, he was the son of Autumn Wilmoth and Jewel Taylor Wilmoth, both deceased. Arnold is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charlene (Steve) Teague, of Clemmons, NC; Mrs. Elizabeth (Tony) Solazzo, of Graham, NC; and Gloria Gay (Curtis) Ingle, of Burlington, NC; five grandchildren, Nikki (Ron) King; Kristie Tomaro; Lara (Dennis) Easley: Phillip (Stefanie) Ingle and Courtney Ingle; 12 great-grandchildren, Zoe King, Logan King, Matthew Swaney, Andrew Swaney, Brendon Swaney, Emma Tomaro, Rachel Tomaro, Wyatt Easley, Rhett Easley, Abigail Ingle, Samantha Ingle, and Lawson Ingle, his son’s fiancé, Denise Briggs of Graham, NC; three sisters, Ms. Fausteen Singleton of Tazewell, TN; Ms. Eloise Epperson of Washburn, TN; and Ms. Frances Wilder of Washburn, TN; and one brother, Clifton Wilmoth of Washburn, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two children, Cynthia Kay Wilmoth at seven weeks old in 1954; Ronald Dean Wilmoth at age 20 in 1979; two brothers, Coil Wilmoth and Stanley Wilmoth; three sisters, Iva Bundren, Helen Winstead and Kathleen Wilmoth; his former wife and the mother of his children, Doskey Wilmoth, who died in 2012; and former companion, Mattie Gourley.
Mr. Wilmoth owned and operated Wilmoth Construction until his retirement from work. He lived for many years on Trollingwood Road in Haw River. His love of travel inspired him to visit all 50 states along with Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham by Rev. Bruce Wilmoth. Interment will follow at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Curtis and Gloria Gay Ingle, Antioch Church Road, Burlington, NC.
