Mrs. Carnell Cook Summers, 87, of Gibsonville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 31, 2018.
A native of Altamahaw, NC, she was the wife of Harvey G. Summers, who survives and the daughter of Jesse C. Cook and Mattie Styers Cook, both deceased. Carnell and Harvey celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December 2017. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Elon where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Epsie Somers Sunday School Class.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include three sons, Barry G. Summers and wife Diane of Wilmington; Dana L. Summers and wife René of Burlington, and Kim G. Summers and wife Wendy of Trinity; brother, Austin Cook of Burlington; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a 12th on the way.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. Mason Fuller Smith.
The family would like to recognize and thank Dr. Javier Gutierrez, her primary care physician; doctors and staff at Alamance Cancer Center and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; and caregivers, Carol Ogles, Jackie Rogers and Faye Mabe for the care and kindnesses extended to Carnell.
