On September 19, 2019, Ann celebrated her arrival in Heaven after a brief 34 years on Earth. She was attended by her husband during a swift, yet peaceful goodbye at Duke University Medical Center, after having recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
Ann was born in Mebane, NC on June 3, 1985. She graduated from Eastern Alamance High School and was a dedicated and hard-working dietary aide for 8 years at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Her sweet nature and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her 9 cats. A child at heart, Ann loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, Garfield comics, and Super Mario. She attended First United Methodist Church of Elon with her husband.
She was married 10 years to Joel Thomas Gilliam of Burlington, and was preceded in death by her mother Linda Sue Caviness Kimrey. She is survived by her father, Richard Kimrey of Liberty, NC. She is also survived by sister Stacey Kimrey Coleman of Liberty, brother Travis Kimrey of Mebane, niece Meg Gilliam, and nephews Ira Coleman, Ty Kimrey, and John Kimrey.
The funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church of Elon on Monday, September 23rd at 2:00, with visitation from 12:00 to 1:30 also at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mark’s Church, Burlington. Other times, the family will be at the home of Steve and Margaret Gilliam, 904 Mill Point Way, Elon. Donations may be made to Orange County Animal Services or to First United Methodist Church of Elon.
