Anita Grace Buckland

Mrs. Anita Grace Arthur Buckland, 73, of Burlington, died on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at her residence after nearly a two year battle with ovarian cancer.

A native of Prosperity, West Virginia, she was the wife of Carl David Buckland, who survives, and the daughter of Edgar Price Arthur and Mary Edmonds Arthur, both deceased. Mrs. Buckland attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia, class of 1962, and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Burlington. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by two sons, Carl D. Buckland, Jr. and wife Michelle of Brussels, Belgium and Randall Craig and wife Merritt of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Alice, Grace, Georgia, and Kaitlyn; brother, Robert Arthur (Gail) of Newport, TN; her sister, Gail Bogar (Louie) of Brunswick, Ohio; and sister in law, Betty Arthur. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Eddie, and Randall Mark Arthur; an infant brother; and infant sister; and two sisters in law, Anna May Lyons and Diane Wurst Arthur.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM on Thursday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington and at other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 480 West Old Glencoe Road, Burlington, NC 27217 or a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the ARMC Cancer Center for the care given to Mrs. Buckland.
