Lorraine "Loby" Layton Phillips

Lorraine “Loby” Layton Phillips, 91, of Graham passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

A native of Alamance County, she was daughter of Sherman Layton and Maurice Shoffner Layton Fogleman, both deceased. Lorraine was the wife of the late Lonnie Clayton Reynolds and the late Bobby Hoyt Phillips.

She retired from Western Electric/AT&T where she worked as a secretary for many years. Lorraine was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham and previously a long-time member of Bellemont Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Phillips Chancey and her husband Lamar of Burlington; sister, Nancy Byrd of Valdese, NC; brother, John Layton and his wife Frankie of Graham; step-brother, Ronnie Fogleman and his wife Mary of Burlington; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Chancey of Houston, TX and Mark Chancey and his wife Laura of Solsberry, IN; two step-great-grandchildren, Kayla and Corwin; and a dear friend and sister-in-law, Shirley Lloyd.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her son, David Hoyt Phillips and her step-father, Wade Fogleman.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service. A private committal will be held for the family at Alamance Memorial Park.
