Willard P. Thompson

Mr. Willard P. Thompson, 88, of Graham passed away surrounded by his family at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:15 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, Willard was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Edwards Thompson and the son of Arthur Thompson and Maggie Coble Thompson, both deceased.  He was a retired general contractor and was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Faye Thompson Lewis of Snow Camp; son, Steve Thompson and his wife, Paulette of Graham; five grandchildren, Christina Wilkins and her husband, Steve, April Thompson, Kyle Thompson and his wife, Danielle, Chase Thompson and Blair Thompson; four great grandchildren; and sister, Alease Thompson Smith of Burlington.

In addition to his wife and parents, Willard was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mac Lewis; five sisters; and four brothers.

A funeral service will be held at the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Fred Roberts and Mr. Don Moser.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Other times they will be at the residence of his son, Steve Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields, 2502 S. NC Hwy. 119, Mebane, NC 27302.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his niece Sarah Phillips and to Brenda Isley Perry for their loving care of Mr. Thompson.
