Samuel M. "Sam" Newcomb

Mr. Samuel M. “Sam” Newcomb, 80, of Cherry Grove Community passed away at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Joyce Ann Newcomb, who survives and the son of
D. T. Newcomb and Bessie Eans Newcomb, both deceased. Mr. Newcomb was an electrician for King Electric from 1964 to 2016. He was a founding member and retired from the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member of the Cherry Grove Ruritan Club. Sam was a member of Mayfield Baptist Church in Rockingham County.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include four children, Keith Newcomb and wife Barbara, Earl Newcomb and wife Patti, Debi Pinkerton and husband Greg and Dale Newcomb and wife Tonya; fifteen grandchildren, Rodger (Samantha), Allie (Trent), Samantha, Hannah, Victor (Tiffany), Michael, Isaac, Abby, Maddy, Molly, Ashley (Joe), Leslie (Jed), Westley, Bradley (Jessica), and Mandy; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kloe, Kaley, Kora, Nicole, Aiden, Carleigh, Bryan, Taylor, Blake, Kassidy, Jace, Baby Samuel Walker (on the way) and Baby Newcomb (on the way); and one sister, Mable McDaniel. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lee Newcomb; four brothers; and two sisters.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6 until 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence, 598 Brintle Road, Reidsville, NC.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Tim Stevens and Pastor Michael Newcomb. Burial will follow in Mayfield Baptist Church Cemetery, 8936 NC Highway 700, Ruffin, NC 27326.
