Rod Fox

Rod Fox, 71, of Elon passed away at his residence on Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2017.

Mr. Fox was born on May 11, 1946 in Vincennes, Indiana and grew up in Martinsville, Indiana. He was the husband of Marilyn Hinson Fox, who survives, and the son of Marvin Howard Fox and Mary Jane Steininger Fox, both deceased.

Mr. Fox was a graduate of Indiana University with a Master’s Degree in Biology and Botany. He moved to North Carolina to work at Carolina Biological in the fall of 1971. Later, he transferred to Biomedical/LabCorp and other various filter companies before he started his own business, Questra, Inc. Rod loved traveling and visited 47 states in the United States and several countries. He was an avid reader and photographer.

Rod was a charter member and active member of the Alamance Jazz Band and played the plectrum banjo in various Dixieland bands in the Triad. He also played various instruments in the pit orchestra in many community theatre productions. For the past six years, he has been a member of the Bill Wilson Trio, playing monthly at Twin Lakes Memory Care, Assisted Living and Health Care, and also at Blakey Hall in Elon and Cedar Ridge in Burlington.

Mr. Fox was a very active member of Shallow Ford Christian Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee member, choir member, Event Team Chairman and President of the Men’s Fellowship.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include three daughters, Erin K. Fox and husband Jason Bennett of Charlotte, Lindsay A. Fox of Elon, and Meredith K. Fox and husband Derek Hollis of Salisbury; and cousin, Carolyn Reid of New York.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Shallow Ford Christian Church on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. by Pastor Steve Regan with the family receiving friends following the service in the church parlor.
