Polly Frances Allison Johnson

Burlington – Mrs. Polly Frances Allison Johnson, 90, formerly of 822 Scott Street, Burlington died at White Oak Manor on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:20 p.m. following a short acute illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late James T. “Jim” Johnson and the daughter of Walker Marion Allison and Virgie Gladys Isley Allison, both deceased.

Mrs. Johnson met her sweetheart, Jim, while working in a hosiery mill. They married and were together for 57 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was also a kind and confident woman and a homemaker. Jim and Polly loved living on Scott Street in Burlington with all their wonderful neighbors. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alamance where she taught the 2 and 3 years old Sunday school class.

Survivors include a son, Greg Johnson and wife LaDonna of Burlington; daughter, Kathy Hawkins and husband Jim of Burlington; ten grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Allison of Haw River; sister-in-law, Alma Bowman; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two brothers, Alton Allison and W. D. Allison and two sisters, Hazel Hawkins and Nancy Euliss.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 6 until 8 p.m. Other times, the family will be at 822 Scott Street, Burlington, NC.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Dale Cain. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at White Oak Manor for the wonderful care given for 3 ½ years and to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell. They would also like to thank her church friends, Jack Gant and Dave Hobson, for the faithful weekly visits.
