Marie Layton Barrett

Marie Layton Barrett, 84, of Graham, NC passed away at her residence on Monday, April 22, 2024.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of 65 years to the late Darrell Clinton Barrett, Sr. and the daughter of Ross Layton and Jennette Huckaby Layton, both deceased. She retired from UNC at Chapel Hill in the Printing Department. Marie was a member of Salem Community Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Frazier and husband Greg of Graham and Lisa Rogers and husband Jimmy of Graham; son, Darrell C. Barrett, Jr. and wife Cindy of Burlington; sisters, JoAnn Skinner and husband Gerald of Jacksonville, NC and Joyce Graham and husband Jimmy of Rockingham, NC; grandchildren, Olivia Rogers, Josh Rogers and wife Jennifer, Tiffany Dunn, Jordan Norris and husband Kyle, Amanda Barrett, Darrell Clinton Barrett, III and Kristy, and Christina Grinnan and husband Josh; and great grandchildren, Rhett, Waylon, Shane, Quinn, Reese, Isaac, Eli, Barrett, Bailey, Derek, Mackenzie, Greysun, Andrew, and Lauren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Rogers.

The funeral service will be conducted at Salem Community Church on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Lisa Rogers.
