Johnny J. Jones, Sr.

Mr. Johnny J. Jones, Sr., 85, of Burlington passed away at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 3:45 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 65 years to Doris Rackley Jones and the son of Lonnie C. Jones and Eary May Jones, both deceased. Johnny retired from the City of Graham and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Cathy Jones Smith and her husband, Rodney of Elon; a son, Johnny J. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Cyndee of Starke, FL; three grandchildren, Caryn J. Parkhurst and her husband James of Jacksonville, FL, Johnny W. Jones and his wife, Michelle of Orange Park, FL and Lauren Aislinn Jones and her husband, Bryan of Jacksonville, FL; three great grandchildren, Emma Jones, Lilly Jones and Jackson Jones; one great grandchild on the way in October; and numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny loved his family and was proud of all their accomplishments.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers.

A funeral service will be held at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Mike Jones.  Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Other times the family will be at the residence.
