John Edward “Mac” Machala

Burlington – Mr. John Edward “Mac” Machala, 84, of 2809 Armfield Avenue, Burlington died at his residence on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 7:49 a.m. following nine months of declining health.

A native of New Jersey, he was the husband of the late Joni Nieves Machala and the son of Joseph and Katie Machala. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from AT&T. Mac enjoyed gardening, reading, boating and fishing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and Duke Blue Devil fan. Mr. Machala was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele Foster of the home; granddaughter, Olivia Foster of the home; grandson, James Foster of the home; sister, Harriett Hudock; niece, Diane Hudson; nephew, John Hudock; and daughter-in-law, Joanne Machala. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Wood; son, John J. Machala; and two brothers, Joseph Machala and Anthony Machala.

A private memorial service will be held in St. Francis by the Sea Columbarium, Hilton Head Island, SC.
