Jeffrey Allen Norton

Jeffrey Allen Norton, 44, of Burlington died at his residence on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Jeff was born May 18, 1972 to Phyllis Alexander Green and the late Allen Dean Norton.

He graduated from Graham High School in 1990 and UNC Charlotte in 1995. After graduating from college, he went to work for the Consulate General of Japan, where he taught English to middle school students and later he taught conversational English to Japanese business men.

At the time of his death, he was employed with IFG Companies in the Business Services Dept.

From an early age, Jeff enjoyed reading, fishing and watching family TV sitcoms. He enjoyed an occasional round of golf and beach trips. He could be found on weekends in front of the TV watching golf or the Tarheels. He enjoyed the parties and get togethers with the golfers/birthday group who was like his extended family. His most prized possession is his two dogs, Spike and Rascal.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Phyllis A. Green and step-father, Cliff Green of Graham; step-mother, Pat Norton of Graham; several cousins; and one aunt.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert G. Alexander, Rachel C. Alexander Daves, John Elmer Norton, Sr. and Ermina McCauley Norton.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham, NC. A celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Ken Smith will officiate the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Phyllis and Cliff Green.

For all who knew him, Jeff will be remembered for his beautiful smile, witty personality and quiet manner.
