Howard Frank Miner

Mr. Howard F. Miner, 73, of Burlington died at his residence on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

A native of Norfolk, VA, he was the husband of Cheryl Hunt Miner, who survives and the son of Robert S. Miner and Grace Mumford Miner, both deceased. Mr. Miner was a member of the National Guard. He retired as a program analyst for Navair Patuxent River, MD. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. Mr. Miner was also a member of the Bula Masonic Lodge #409 A.F. & A.M. and the Amran Shrine Temple. He was Past Master of the Thomas J. Shryock #223 A.F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Leonardtown Rescue Squad.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two daughters, Laurie Downs and husband Trevor of Elon and Stephanie Holmes and husband Russell of Leonardtown, MD; son, Martin A. Miner of Burlington; sister, Susan A. Keith and husband John of Rutherfordton, NC; brother, James R. Miner and wife Ellen of Athens, AL; and eight grandchildren, McKenna and Isabelle Downs, Brandon, Jayden and Jorden Miner, Alexandra McIntyre, and Sarah and Daniel Holmes. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kassidee Miner and brother, Bill Miner.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. by Rev. Becky Crites. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the church with Masonic graveside rites. The Masons will meet at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends following the services at the Great Hall.
