Hazel Justice Higgins

Mrs. Hazel Dorothy Justice Higgins, 99, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Burlington, NC.

She was born on July 24, 1918 in Alamance County to the late Richard and Daisy Shoe Justice.

Surviving is her brother and caregiver, Willard Justice; nephews, Wesley Justice and wife Wanda and Blake Justice. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Daisy Justice; husband, Henry Higgins; brothers, Clarence, Ray, Page, Ralph and Glenn Justice; and sister, Pauline Mangrum.

For many years, Hazel helped her husband Henry Higgins operate West Webb Curb Market. She also assisted in managing a hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Hazel was a faithful and long-time member of Trinity Worship Center. When friends and family visited, her Bible most often was on her table. She had read it cover to cover more than eighty times. Her long life was an inspiration to all of us and was a testimony to her strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The funeral service will be at Trinity Worship Center in Burlington on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Roger Barefoot. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the residence of Willard Justice, 3507 Southern Hi-Mt. Hermon Church Road, Graham, NC. Burial will follow the service in Pine Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity or organization of their choice.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Doris Smith and Nancy Steele for their support and assistance over the past months as Hazel’s health declined.
