Mrs. Ella Jean East Clapp, 80, of Burlington passed away at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
Ella Jean was a lifelong native of Burlington, NC. She was born on January 25, 1938 to Eugene and Luella Sorrell East.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Graham where she was also a member of the T. J. Whitehead Sunday School Class. She retired from Alamance County government and was employed by Dispute Settlement Services at the time of her death. She was a member of the Modern Woodmen and a supporter of the United Way of Alamance.
Ella Jean is survived by her daughter, Melinda Clapp Rudd and her husband, Rennie of Haw River; son, Rodney Gene Clapp and his fiancé, Susan Thornton of Liberty; and stepson, Steven Earl Clapp and his wife, Jennifer of Burlington.
Ella Jean will always be remembered by her family and friends for her beautiful smile and laughter. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting, as well as, the gathering of her family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Graham on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Kevin Baker. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, Melinda at 321 Thad Dr., Haw River, NC 27258.
